Sergio Vega is an American musician. He is the bassist of post-hardcore band Quicksand, which originated in New York City in 1990. In 1995, Quicksand disbanded, although they reunited again in 1997 to tour with Deftones. After this tour, the band desired to write a follow-up to their last album Manic Compression, although tensions between bandmates caused the band to split up again, until June 2012 when another reunion was announced. Vega began playing for Deftones, replacing Chi Cheng after Cheng was involved in a car accident which caused him to enter a semi-conscious state in November 2008 and led to his eventual death on April 13, 2013. With Deftones he released the albums Diamond Eyes (2010) and Koi No Yokan (2012).
In 2014 Sergio released a solo EP called fxxxxxk it (http://www.sendspace.com/file/cuc00d).

Sergio Vega (a.k.a. el Shaka ("the Shaker"), real name: José Sergio Vega Cuamea) was a Mexican singer. He was the eighth member of a family of 13 children originally from the Horn Ejido, located on the outskirts of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. As a child, he moved to the USA where he founded Los Hermanos Vegas with his brothers. After several years the band renamed to Los Rayos del Norte returned to Mexico. The band later changed to Sergio Vega y Sus Shaka’s del Norte.
Sergio was a singer of so called narcocorridos, in which the lives of drug bosses are glorified. Such singers are sometimes the target of rivaling gangs. Around the hills of Barobampo he was first chased and then killed in a gunfire on June 26th, 2010. Read more on Last.fm.
